This sun-lit spot on Theater Alley in downtown Medford may be a secret, but it’s the kind of secret I love to share. Ice cream maker and Medford native Kayla Barton of the thousand-watt smile has created the kind of product I feel proud to purchase: seasonally inspired artisan ice cream made from scratch. She uses locally sourced, organic when possible, high-quality ingredients, and shares her small batch product to customers downtown and on her food cart for special events such as weddings. Yes please!
Sweet Cream offers silky, not-too-sweet Chocolate and bright Lavender Lemon Zest using locally sourced lavender. Seasonal rotations feature fruits and preserves from nearby Pennington Farms or coffee by local Jacksonville roaster Good Bean Coffee. There’s always a dairy-free option on rotation, and this month’s Vegan Coffee ice cream is made with coconut and cashew cream to create a smooth texture on your tongue. The flavor that really put me over the top was Gingersnap—creamy, subtle, and heartwarming, like the sunshine on warm and breezy October days!
Sweet Cream has seating in the cozy back entrance of Organic Café. Swing by for a special treat after catching a show at the Craterian Theater and let Kayla know you’re a guest at Inn at the Commons!
